We are an engaged group of residents from Village of Mamaroneck and the area who care about how our tax dollars are used.
Our taxes help pave our roads, fund our schools and provide critical services to the Village of Mamaroneck, Town of Mamaroneck, and Village of Larchmont. In the Village of Mamaroneck alone, just in the past decade, millions of hard earned taxpayer dollars have been spent on lawsuits against the Village. Developers are often turned down in spite of a property’s zoning rights. We cannot continue down this road.
The pandemic has caused severe financial distress for many in the area. We need jobs and tax revenue. We do not need those dollars wasted away to benefit a few, rather than many.
FACTS ABOUT OUR VILLAGE
Based on past, current and budgeted spend on legal fees by the Village (us taxpayers), the Village will spend over $1,700 each and every day on legal fees. Over $500,000 in 2021 will be spent! Is this putting our hard tax dollars to work?
The village is embroiled in a lawsuit over three homes that are already built and occupied. The village has spent over $100,000 in our tax dollars on this. Check out the lawsuit by clicking here.
The Mayor blames people for suing the village, however ask yourself, "Why are they suing?" Many of these lawsuits are because the village is anti-development, and consistently denies property owners rights to build.
Over the last decade, the Village has spent millions of our taxpayer dollars on defending lawsuits from developers – and the developers end up winning in court!
We just cut $2.5 million out of our VOM budget – can we afford this wasteful spending on lawyers?
